Network Engineer

Basic Function

The role of the Network Engineer is to support the IT Manager and other users on System, Network and data services activities. The Network Engineer will be required to operate at different levels from project administration to report writing so multi-tasking and a flexible approach to managing one’s work schedule are essential.

Job Description

The incumbent of this position would be expected to have the following competencies:

  • Planning on equipment sizing & capacity for the Convention Centre needs
  • Planning for equipment upgrade & keeping track of “End of Life” status for each IT hardware/software product within the Convention Centre.
  • Manage and control the entire IT data centre and infrastructure support functions and partial outsource personnel’s activities which are related to data centre and infrastructure domain.
  • To develop and monitor support statistical information for identifying and improve on IT data centre and Infrastructure support strategies.
  • To monitor the performance of data centre equipment.
  • Develop and to consistently perform to internal/external customers satisfaction in terms of event support. To adhere to the maintenance program for all the equipment in the data centre and infrastructure within the Convention Centre.
  • Ability to perform minor networking tweaking/programming to support the event needs
  • Provide first level data centre and infrastructure support within the Convention Centre
  • Coordinate, troubleshoot and manage IT data centre and related infrastructure
  • Coordinate support with 3rd party support specialist
  • Coordinate and conduct network/system training for end users
  • Produce training guides and document “how-to”
  • Design and produce reports based on requirements and business needs
  • Coordinate and implement hardware & software upgrades
  • Assist authorized users in relation to operation of the Centre’s IT application system, various modules and supporting personal computers
  • Coordinate the timely handling of any hardware & software fault reports or enhancement requests
  • Provide manual on the issue of IT systems and incorporate those manual into the relevant operating procedures of the Centre
  • Provide IT cross functional support should the need arises.
  • Implement and maintain a management system which meets the requirements of ISO 9001 and 22000 as set and certified by an accredited certifying body
  • Setup emergency procedures to continue the operation of the Centre
  • Server/appliances/network equipment or any other system failure within the client serviceable area, data centre and telecommunication rooms.
  • Establish necessary security measures to prevent unauthorized access to the IT data centre and other infrastructure systems
  • Establish maintenance plan for all devices within the data centre and infrastructure areas.

Job requirement

  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Required language(s): English
  • Required Skill(s):
    • Knowledge of networking experience with valid Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
    • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) concepts and database management.
    • Project Management experience would be highly regarded.
    • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, MIS or related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in progressive IT leadership roles implementing enterprise class software applications of significant complexity in the corporate system functions.
  • 4 - 6 years’ experience in information technology with at least 2 - 3 years in the hospitality industry.
  • Preferably Senior Executive specialized in Hotel Management/Tourism Services or equivalent.
