A Majestic Creation for Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XV Sultan Muhammad V

Titled ‘TIME’, the Centre’s majestic creation, which took three team members over a week to conceptualise and close to two weeks to assemble, stands at approximately 5ft (h) by 3ft (w) and weighs close to 35kg, was presented to Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV Sultan Muhammad V at the annual cake presentation at Istana Negara, held in conjunction with His Majesty’s official birthday celebration on 9 September 2017.
The Centre’s Executive Pastry Chef, Jamaluddin bin Zainal Abidin, shared, “This year our theme symbolises this historic moment in ‘TIME’ for Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV Sultan Muhammad V and the country, as well as the beginning of His Majesty’s harmonious reign.”
Comprising four separate compartments of different types of red velvet flavoured delights including cupcakes, cookies, pralines and mini-cakes, the cake’s design was inspired by the unique architecture of various iconic clock towers around Malaysia, and the intricately handcrafted designs and individually-carved motifs were influenced by the country’s rich multicultural heritage.
“Creating a cake for His Majesty is truly an honour and something my team and I look forward to every year. We pride ourselves on our innovative culinary creations so we always start brainstorming concepts and themes in advance of the occasion, to ensure we create a cake that is unique, delicious and most important of all, fit for a king,” concluded a delighted Chef Jamaluddin.
