Tourism Tax Introduced by Malaysian Government!

On 1 September 2017, the Malaysian government in conjunction with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department implemented the Tourism Tax.
The Tourism Tax only applies to foreign tourists, who will be charged a flat rate of RM10 per night and per room for all types of hotels and accommodation nationwide.
However, the Tourism Tax will not apply to homestays and kampung stays registered with the Tourism and Culture Ministry, premises maintained by religious institutions for non-commercial purposes, premises operated by federal and state governments for non-commercial purposes, and premises with four or less rooms.
