KUALA LUMPUR, 9 May 2019 – Over 3,000 of the world’s leading medical professionals will be converging on the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) to attend the International Congress on Infectious Diseases (ICID) 2020. The high-profile event, recently won by the Centre and the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), is expected to deliver a RM14.5 million economic boost to the country.

According to the Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor, “We are so pleased the Centre is consistently being recognised as an ideal venue for international association medical conferences. Our successful track record in attracting and hosting large-scale medical events demonstrates that clients value our partnership approach, expertise and service delivery.”

He continued, “ICID returning to the Centre again validates our delivery of a differentiated customer experience that offers affordable, innovative and value-add solutions. It is also a testament to Malaysia’s compelling business events proposition and highlights Kuala Lumpur’s growing reputation as a medical meetings hub in the region.”

Elaborating on the ICID 2020 destination choice, ICID 2020 Conference Manager, Doris Steinbach, shared, “We held our event at the Centre in 2008 and had a really great experience so we’re back. The layout of the Centre is fantastic, with all the space we need on one floor, providing excellent accessibility for participants. The three hotels directly connected to the venue also provide tremendous convenience and value to our participants. Our conference is very international, we have participants from over 102 countries, so destination accessibility is important and Kuala Lumpur has that connectivity, along with a world-class airport, which really helps.”
