KUALA LUMPUR, 29 October 2025 – The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Business Events Alliance (KLCCBEA) has successfully concluded the 3rd edition of Sustainable September, themed “Liveable and Lovable Precinct”, celebrating the campaign’s strongest results since its inception in 2022.
The month-long initiative, held in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Urbanice Malaysia, and the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), brought together more than 1,000 participants from across the KLCC Precinct, partner properties and the public, reinforcing a shared commitment to building a city that is not only sustainable, but also vibrant, healthy, and inclusive.
This year’s campaign achieved impressive milestones:
• RM41,000 raised through precinct-wide fundraising activities, surpassing the initial target and marking a significant increase from previous years.
• 700 volunteering hours contributed by precinct employees.
• 2,200 beneficiaries reached through supported social and environmental causes.
• 134 blood bags collected during the precinct’s blood donation drive.
• 50 new trees planted at KLCC Park in partnership with DBKL and FRIM.
• 317 kilograms of waste collected on International Coastal Clean-Up Day.
• 200 litres of used cooking oil collected for recycling.
• Over 1 million steps accumulated collectively through activities throughout the Sustainable September campaign.
Officiated earlier this month by the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, YBhg Datuk Dato’ Seri TPr. (Dr.) Maimunah Mohd Sharif, together with KLCC Holdings Group Chief Executive Officer of KLCC Holdings, Datuk Sr. Mohd. Salem Kailany, the campaign launched with a Fun Run, Tree Planting Ceremony, and Zumba in the Park, symbolising the programme’s core philosophy that sustainability extends beyond the environment to the wellbeing of people and communities.
“Sustainable September has grown into more than an annual campaign, it has become a movement that embodies our collective values as a precinct and as a city,” said John Burke, Chairman of KLCCBEA of KLCCBEA. “By aligning with DBKL’s vision for a Liveable and Lovable City, and with the expertise of partners like Urbanice Malaysia and FRIM, we’re showing how sustainability can be lived, experienced, and shared.”
Since its introduction in 2022, Sustainable September has evolved from a local collaboration into a precinct-wide model recognised regionally for its innovative and action-driven approach. It continues to unite partners from across hospitality, retail, and city sectors to advance KLCCBEA’s mission of creating a world-class, future-ready, and sustainable precinct at the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
