Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Delivered the WFH 2026 World Congress After Six Years of Challenges

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Delivered the WFH 2026 World Congress After Six Years of Challenges

The WFH 2026 World Congress, hosted at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, brought together nearly 2,000 delegates from 131 countries, including clinicians, researchers, patients, caregivers and advocacy leaders from the global bleeding disorders community.

Organised under the umbrella of the World Federation of Hemophilia, the Congress was far more than a conventional medical meeting. It was a platform where science, lived experiences, healthcare access and advocacy converged on a global stage.

For the organisers, selecting the right destination and venue was critical. The event required more than meeting spaces and technical capabilities. It needed a venue capable of supporting accessibility, operational complexity and a highly inclusive delegate experience.

Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur within the iconic KLCC precinct, the Centre provided the infrastructure, accessibility, flexibility and collaborative support required to deliver a congress of this scale and significance.

For the organisers, accessibility and regional inclusion played a major role in destination selection.

Hosting the Congress in Kuala Lumpur enabled stronger participation from across Asia-Pacific and neighbouring regions, particularly for delegates who may otherwise face barriers to attending global congresses hosted in Western destinations.

“Bringing the Congress to Kuala Lumpur was the right decision on many levels. The city offers strong connectivity, a wide range of accommodation, and an environment that makes it possible for participants from across the region to attend, many for the first time.”

Located beside the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre offered delegates direct access to hotels, transportation, dining and supporting infrastructure within the KLCC precinct.

Many Congress participants are patients living with mobility challenges including wheelchair users. As a result, the organisers required a venue capable of hosting the entire congress on a single floor to minimise physical barriers and improve delegate movement throughout the event.

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre was uniquely positioned to support this requirement.

Its purpose-built design and flexible event spaces enabled scientific sessions, patient programmes, exhibitions and meeting areas to be integrated seamlessly across one level.

“At the same time, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre delivered exactly what we needed. Its ability to host the entire event on a single level made a real difference, especially for our patients with mobility challenges.”

“The layout, the flexibility of spaces, and the seamless flow between sessions and exhibition created an experience that was both efficient and inclusive.”
A Partnership Built on Flexibility and Collaboration

The relationship between the organisers and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre extended well beyond standard venue operations.

Following the cancellation in 2020, event timelines evolved repeatedly while programme requirements continued to shift over several years.

Throughout this process, the venue team remained responsive, collaborative and adaptable.

“They’ve been patient and collaborative throughout, even when our needs changed. They listened to us and accommodated what we required.”
This flexibility enabled the organisers to move forward with confidence despite years of uncertainty and changing global conditions.

“Combined with the team’s responsiveness and willingness to adapt over the years, it has been a strong and reliable partnership.”

For the Centre, this reflected its broader role in supporting international congress organisers through operational continuity, long-term partnership and solution-focused collaboration.

The Congress required more than physical accessibility. It also demanded thoughtful operational planning to support a diverse international delegate base with varying medical and dietary needs.

Catering arrangements included vegetarian, vegan and allergen-sensitive meal options to ensure delegates could participate comfortably throughout the programme.

Meals were individually labelled, often including participants’ names, allowing delegates with specific dietary requirements to identify suitable options confidently and efficiently.

Within a congress centred on healthcare and wellbeing, these operational details became an important reflection of the overall event experience.

The Centre’s ability to support these requirements contributed to creating an environment where delegates could focus fully on learning, collaboration and participation.
Delivering More Than a Medical Congress

The impact of the WFH 2026 World Congress extends far beyond programme sessions and attendance figures.

The Congress strengthened access to knowledge and global discourse for communities often underrepresented in healthcare conversations. It raised visibility for bleeding disorders across the region while supporting advocacy, collaboration and healthcare engagement.

For the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the Congress demonstrated how venue infrastructure, accessibility planning, operational excellence and partnership can collectively support events with meaningful global impact.

“Combined with the team’s responsiveness and willingness to adapt over the years, it has been a strong and reliable partnership.”
